Special Edition: THE WALKING WORM Premiere, Some (Human) Art Too
The "Long War" series that began with THE THING IN THE WOODS continues. Some commissioned art, my first reviews, and a show this weekend.
This past October, I Kickstarted the production of The Walking Worm, the third book in the “Long War” series that began with The Thing in the Woods. Since Kickstarter enthusiasts love their early rewards, I promised backers they’d get their rewards in November and December and everybody else would have to wait until February.
Well, The Walking Worm is ready to buy today. Check it out in in all e-book stores at this link. Here’s the Amazon paperback link — they’re not linked on the Amazon main page yet. This is something that’ll take a couple days, maybe a week. The AI-narrated audio-book isn’t available yet either — once it’s been live for a bit I should be able to set it up. Although I’ve checked off Amazon Expanded Distribution, it doesn’t seem like the print version is available anywhere other than Amazon at the moment. That’s something else that might take a couple days.
In the meantime, enjoy!
My Cousin Interprets The Walking Worm
In January I commissioned one of my cousins, who’s studying art and graphic design, to do some artwork based on The Walking Worm. I included her initial sketch in the 1/18 newsletter.
Here’s her final sketch depicting MJ-12’s confrontation with the titular Worm and its minions. Some elements aren’t present for spoiler reasons. :)
If you like it, check out her work here. She’ll do commissions. :)
My First Online Reviews
Matt Stienberg, a Canadian writer and one of my Kickstarter backers, reviewed The Walking Worm on his blog. Here’s the link. I think he likes it. :)
(Also, check out his new novel The Virtue of Battle on Kindle. Free on Kindle Unlimited.)
Mindy Cordes, a #booktuber and another Kickstarter backer, reviewed it on her blog as well. Here’s her YouTube review and her review on Goodreads too.
ConPossible 2025 This Weekend Reminder
ConPossible 2025, the next show I’m attending and The Walking Worm’s print-book premiere, is this weekend (Feb. 7-9) at Sonesta Gwinnett Place in Duluth, northeast of Atlanta proper.
(Many of you are familiar with the venue, since this particular hotel has hosted Nerdi Gras and CONJuration in the past.)
If you want to purchase a signed TWW copy, this will be your first chance to get it. I also have a copy of Barbarians: From Conan To He-Man, a lavishly illustrated history of 1980s sword-and-sorcery films, that I’m reselling. I will also have After The World Ends, a chronicle of post-apocalyptic films from the same publisher. Per the website, people who just want to shop can enter the vending hall for $5, but full admission gets you access to panels and other fun events.
